Abstract

Academic integrity and fairness are fundamental to maintaining credibility in higher education assessment. As assessment practices evolve with digital advancements and the increasing prevalence of remote learning, institutions face new challenges in preventing academic dishonesty while ensuring fair evaluation methods. This paper explores the ethical, technological, and pedagogical dimensions of academic integrity, highlighting common challenges such as plagiarism, contract cheating, AI-assisted academic misconduct, and bias in grading. The study examines international frameworks and best practices for fostering ethical assessment, including the implementation of anti-plagiarism technologies, diversified evaluation methods, and policies promoting transparency. Finally, it provides recommendations for developing assessment models that uphold fairness, inclusivity, and academic honesty.
