Abstract

The increasing demand for sustainable and decentralized energy solutions has brought attention to the development of mini-hydropower plants (MHPPs) in Uzbekistan. These small-scale facilities offer a reliable and eco-friendly means of generating electricity, especially for remote and mountainous areas. This study explores the necessity of mini-hydropower in Uzbekistan by analyzing current energy challenges, potential hydropower resources, and development plans. Based on statistical data and simulation-based modeling, the research evaluates the contribution MHPPs can make to national energy security, economic development, and environmental protection. The findings demonstrate that mini-hydropower systems can significantly reduce dependency on fossil fuels, enhance grid stability in rural areas, and align with Uzbekistan’s green energy targets by 2030.
