Abstract

This article analyzes the expression of the meaning of indefiniteness in English and Uzbek through numbers, numerals and the word “bir”. During the research, the mobile meanings of numbers in these languages, their role in creating an ambiguous reference, and their grammatical and semantic properties are studied. Also, the similarities and differences in expressing the ambiguous meaning of the English word “one” and the Uzbek word “bir” are compared.
