Content analysis was used to select the suitable literature for the study. Based on the reviewed studies, the paper’s findings revealed that the contributions of international organizations toward the development of tertiary education are in the following areas; funding, infrastructure facilities development, provision of instructional resources and research development. Based on these findings, the paper recommended that the federal government should establish an agency to coordinate the activities of all international organizations operating in Nigeria. International organizations that are programmes inclined to tertiary education should always be involved and included in programmes concerning tertiary institutions. International organizations should be encouraged to participate in the development of tertiary education in Nigeria.
