Roles of International Organizations in Development of Green Campus Initiative in Nigeria

This paper explore the roles of international organizations in the development of green campus initiative in the tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Depending on secondary data that were collected from print and online publications on green campus, green school and sustainable environment. The paper concluded international organizations have critical roles to play in ensuring the development of green campus initiative in the tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Provision of funds, technical assistances, capacity building, monitoring and evaluation and support research development of green campus are some of the vitals roles of international organization in the development of green campus initiative. Based on this findings, the paper recommends that tertiary institutions should partner and collaborate with the various international organizations on the development of green campus initiative in the institutions. Government should encourage the private institutions to also partner with the tertiary institutions in the development of green campus initiative in all the Nigerian campuses.
