Abstract

Fragility analysis is a vital tool in assessing the vulnerability of structures under seismic loads. This paper presents a comparative study of fragility analyses performed on steel and concrete structures. The review explores the methodologies, uncertainties, and assumptions inherent in fragility analysis, focusing on the structural performance of steel and concrete under seismic events. Various approaches to generating fragility curves are discussed, along with the influence of factors such as material properties, construction quality, and aging. The comparison highlights the distinct behaviors of steel and concrete structures, providing insights into their respective vulnerabilities and resilience. The paper concludes with recommendations for future research, particularly in the development of more accurate and comprehensive fragility models that account for complex structural systems and varied loading conditions.
