Abstract

Homonyms, as a linguistic phenomenon, have long been an object of study in various languages, including Russian. This article explores the concept, classification, and functional role of homonyms in the Russian language. Special attention is given to the varieties of homonyms, their formation mechanisms, and their significance in language communication and lexicography. Examples from Russian literature and everyday speech illustrate the diversity and richness of homonyms.
