This article considers some stages in the development of English for tourism and some recent approaches to teaching English to tourism students. Changes in the labor market led to changes in the students’ language needs as well as in the pedagogy of teaching English to tourism students. Generally speaking, English for Specific Purposes is quite a challenging task as it faces the difficulties related to both teaching a foreign language and making that foreign language another language with its own specialized vocabulary. This requires our graduates to master constantly new communicative skills demanded by the labor market.
