Abstract

This study explores the realization of irony through lexical stylistic means in English and Uzbek literature. The research focuses on how stylistic devices such as metaphor, metonymy, euphemism, and phraseological units contribute to the expression of irony. Drawing from both languages, examples from A. Kahhar, Mark Twain, and Jane Austen are analyzed to highlight the stylistic and cultural nuances in the construction of ironic meaning. The study identifies key features of irony such as exaggeration, understatement, and sarcasm, and underscores the cognitive mechanisms behind ironic speech.
